Mediation
What is Mediation?
Mediation is an opportunity for individuals to reach an agreement outside of court with the help of a neutral third-party called a mediator. This approach offers several benefits over a traditional trial, including:
-
Quicker resolution- Traditional litigation can last for months or even years, and you may be ordered to mediation during that process. Mediating early could save you a significant amount of time, stress, and money.
-
Individuals can engage in mediation with or without attorneys and before or after paperwork is filed with a court. Mediation is a flexible and confidential process that allows you to reach agreements that may not be possible in a trial situation.
Cease Fire Family Law Center offers in-person and virtual mediations and can accommodate scheduling outside of typical business hours.
Supervised Parenting Time
What is Supervised Parenting Time (Supervised Visitation)?
When a Court orders that a parent or other family member's time with a child must be supervised, it is necessary to consider who is supervising and where the visitation will occur. It is important that the visits are both safe and meaningful.

At Cease Fire Family Law Center we provide a safe and
home-like setting for supervised visitation. If appropriate, we can also offer supervision at other public locations. Our supervisors provide thorough supervision and follow established safety and documentation procedures.
We are located just blocks from the Richmond Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office in the well-respected Olde Richmond neighborhood.
Parenting Coordination
What is a parenting coordinator?
A parenting coordinator helps parents reduce co-parenting conflict and assists parents with reaching child-focused decisions. They aid in the implementation or modification of parenting plans and/or parenting time schedules.

A parenting coordinator can help parents develop valuable conflict resolution skills, empowering them to effectively resolve disagreements that may arise in the future.
Guardian Ad Litem
What is a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL)?
A Guardian Ad Litem represents the best interests of your children.
The parties to a case may agree to the appointment of a GAL or the Court may appoint one. A GAL does the following:
* Talks to the children, parents, and others to gather important information as well as collects relevant records and documentation.
* Files a report, and often a recommendation to the Court regarding disputed matters to advocate for the child's best interests.
